About the owner

Mirinda Mathis-Davis deeply rooted in the Saltillo community of Conway AR.

I've been married to Rick Davis for 27 years, and we have two amazing children Mallory & Marshall.

I discovered the love for my city as a young girl making shopping trips to Downtown Conway with my mom.

I remember Jack & Jill was one of my young girl favorites! I thought Mr. Denny & Mrs. Diane Brown were the coolest and they always had the fanciest clothes there, and I’ll never forget that cat clock. As a teenager I loved shopping at Lefler’s, Mr. Marty Lefler was an inspiration as I paid attention to his leadership, I was encouraged to follow the retail path (he had no idea I was observing him). I knew at 12 years old that owning my own storefront was the desire of my heart.

So I took my first retail job in 1989 at Park Plaza Mall in LR, my passion to make a difference in the retail world was confirmed.

Looking at the 31 years in retail, I’ve had the opportunity to work for some really great organizations, people, and neat places. I’ve had the privilege to build amazing friendships and learn all aspects of the business. Fortunately, I also worked under some extremely tough and unconventional leadership styles also which aided in my growth, character and guided my personal leadership development. Through all the roles and positions I have held I have always tried to keep perspective and use the retail world as a mission field. I believe in my heart that God sent me out into the field to make a difference and that has always been on the forefront for me. Trust me through the many years of retail, working with many different genres, many states, and many roles of leadership I have faced my share of both adversity, and achievements. Home is home and that I am incredibly grateful to have it.

During the storm of life in the past few years (that’s a testimony -for another day) I had the opportunity to reflect and revisit my childhood dream of owning my own store. AKA the Lord shook me real hard and said you are ready for a home mission field, go and open a storefront local. “Time to stop the corporate travel life and plant yourself, my child”. So here I am! Literally wasted no time, jumped in Faith First!!! The process has been so smooth, God has opened all the doors for me exactly in His timing. See in 2019 I made the baby step of opening Kindred Mercantile online, in permanent booth rental space, and weekend travel to vendor events. I thought this was part of my 5-year plan to eventually leave corporate retail and be home near family more. Clearly, the Lord had a different path option for me. Then 2020 hit and it was obvious I had to make the leap of faith and change directions.

I opened the Downtown storefront in a perfect location near Toad Square in November, I know it is a risky time/year to do it. My family and friends have been so supportive, as always, they jump in and give willingly of time and support!! I am so blessed!!

It is important to me that my store Kindred Mercantile is welcoming to you and does not come off as just another store. Kindred means family and that is how I want you to feel coming into the store. Everyone is welcome I love old fashioned customer interaction!! I work to source local products where I can. The product line mix consists of Boutique clothes S-3X, Natural line we call “Earthy Beat” includes Organic Essential Oils, handmade soaps & spritzers which I make, Macrame items. In addition, there are local handmade unique gifts, accessories, brand names like Flying Monkey Jeans, Myra handbags, Consuela Handbags, Natural Life, Umgee, and more. I would love to earn your business and become your “go-to” local store that you love, tell your friends about and when you need a little retail therapy or just a good local that’s a good listener and prayer warrior, you think of me.
